Extract from a letter dated 8 October 2012 from Clover Moore, Lord Mayor, promising that Council would be submitting a DA for its redevelopment of the Fitzroy Gardens Playground, a promise that was broken just five weeks later.

On 13 November 2012 Sydney City Council announced that it now would NOT be submitting a DA (development application) for the redevelopment of the Fitzroy Gardens Children's Playground -- despite previous verbal and written undertakings to do so.

Clover Moore, Lord Mayor, had undertaken verbally at the Meet the Mayoral Candidates Meeting at St. Vincents College on 23 August to submit a DA for the Playground. She further undertook to do this in her letter of 8 October 2012 (see image above).

Yet on 13 November Kristen Gabriel, Council's Community Engagement Coordinator, wrote that a DA would now not be submitted as Council now claimed the Playground works had now been identified as "exempt development".
